Penn & Teller: Fool Us is a competition for magic television show in which magicians perform tricks before American magician-comedian duo Penn & Teller. The initial 2 seasons featured expert host Jonathan Ross, and the fourth season from then on was hosted by Alyson.
Each episode starts off with the introduction stating the reason for the series. Penn & Teller come out and are seated at the stage. The eager magicians will perform their magic before them in front of a an audience in the studio. Following each show, Penn & Teller privately confer while the host interviews the magicians. Penn & Teller then reveal their knowledge of how the trick was executed, in a cryptic manner, usually by using language or writing down the method and presenting it privately to the magicians for confirmation, so they won`t be approaching public disclosure of the method of the trick.

Fool Us was filmed at Fountain Studios in London, England (season one) and at the Penn and Teller Theater located in Las Vegas (season two onward). After each performance, if Penn & Teller cannot figure out how a trick was accomplished, the magician(s) who performed it get a Fool Us trophy and a five-star flight to Las Vegas to perform as the opening act of Penn & Teller`s show which is also held at The Rio Hotel & Casino. The third season debuted on the 1st of October 2021.

In season two, the magicians with the highest ratings who fooled Penn and Teller were invitedback to perform on a special episode Fool Us in which they each get the opportunity to perform their act once again and try to fool Penn and Teller for an additional ten thousand dollars prize. The performers are also invited to perform during an intermission in Penn Teller`s live Las Vegas show, where the audience members aren`t aware that the illusion is performed for them. Though they remain silent and still throughout the course during the performance, Penn and Teller will communicate with one with subtle gestures. They also may confer with a magician who is performing and request for them to repeat a specific action or provide more information.
As of 2017, Penn and Teller have published books on deception, and created instructional videos on how to play cardsand have presented a magic show called Penn & TellerThe Fool Us.
